Spiritual Warfare

Many Christians erroneouly believe that "spiritual warfare"  is an unsual and spooky event that only happens to certain people. Some others claim it as a "badge" of unique spiritual depth and power to give themselves prestige in the Christian community. [The semon included herein is given by a Christian brother who explains spiritual warfare very well. I encourage all to listen to it.]

Are you a true follower of Jesus Christ?

If "yes", then you are in a battle as long as you live in this world. This is not a physical battle that is commonly fought in the world such as World War I and II or the war in Iraq. It's a war that is fought in the spiritual realms. In fact, the Christian life is one of spiritual warfare and we have to endure it to the end. In 1 Timothy 6:12, we are told to:

"Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you are also called, and have professed a good profession before many witnesses."

In acknoweldgement of the warfare that we have to fight as followers of Jesus Christ, the Apostle Paul compared us to the Roman soldiers who fought during his time and he admonished us to be fully prepared. Integral to being prepared is the wearing of the right armor as the Roman soldiers wore when in battle.  No where is this truth so effectively documented as in  Ephesians 6:10-18. [Please listen to the sermon presented in the Youtube video hereafter.]

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
